The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation provides 800+ courses and interdisciplinary training sessions annually. Our training aims to strengthen the emergency response chain – from the voluntary sector and professional emergency services to the frontline of emergency medicine.
Additional HEMS Crew Training
The Helicopter Emergency Service operates across a wide range of situations. Whether an incident is common or rare, the crew needs experience to maintain safety and patient care. Training is essential, but some of it cannot be carried out on duty between missions. The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation provides Norwegian HEMS crews with additional training – on advanced rescue and medical procedures, flight operational matters, and collaboration.
Integrated Emergency Management
The life and health of patients do not depend on emergency medical services alone: in many incidents the efforts of other professional and voluntary emergency and rescue services are vital. The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation offers arenas for joint training to improve collaboration, safety and efficiency when it counts. One example is SAR61.
International Collaboration
The world of HEMS is small and shares a common goal: helping prehospital patients in the best possible ways. To avoid wasting time and resources on “reinventing the wheel” in each country, the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation facilitate international experience exchange, joint training and collaboration between HEMS operators.
Quality in the Initial Response
In remote areas, the fire brigade is often the nearest emergency service and first on scene. The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation supports a nationwide network of such teams with first aid training and Automated External Defibrillators.
In collaboration with nearly all health trusts in Norway, we also deliver courses in Advanced Medical Life Support and Prehospital Trauma Life Support to create a unified approach of high-quality care for the critically ill and injured. The courses equip healthcare professionals with critical decision-making and trauma management skills.
